ROSCOMMON MANAGER JOHN Evans made a colourful appearance on Newstalk’s Off the Ball on Tuesday night having a light-hearted pop at Colm ‘Wooly’ Parkinson and explaining exactly what he meant when he said ’there was a lot of S-H-I-T-E said about us during the week’ after the Rossies beat Cavan at the weekend.
“It was just the rumours, the nasty rumours that were put out about the players and these guys are so dedicated,” he said.

“All we were hearing was there were rows in the camp, that this one didn’t turn up, that one didn’t turn up.
“Look, it’s sport and we didn’t turn up on the day [against Sligo] and we didn’t play. Fair play to Sligo. They’re in a Connacht final as a result of them playing better than us on the day. But yeah, it was a lot of innuendos and rumours and stuff like that.”
Evans wasn’t having much of Wooly’s line of questioning about his managerial style either, especially when the former Laois star asked about his comments regarding Roscommon being regarded as possible All-Ireland contenders in the near future.
“Are you trying to wind me up or something?
“Listen, I’m going into training here shortly now and if you haven’t got something sensible or move onto the Fermanagh game, we’ll move on.”
